Meet Dawn Princehorn, Volunteer

When Dawn Princehorn started volunteering at the Pregnancy and Parenting Center, she helped with mailings. It was a simple, yet important task and one that promotes camaraderie with other volunteers as they sat around the table working together.

Due to physical limitations, Dawn needed another way to volunteer. As a retired registered nurse who once worked for the state of Ohio, Dawn understands database systems so it was natural that she segued into data entry work where her tasks could be completed at home.

Now, her work includes checking volunteer applications for accuracy and scanning the documents into the system. She also tracks individual volunteer hours and is determining an efficient system for tracking group volunteer hours.

Dawn said, “We have groups of volunteers from churches or Christian organizations like Chick Fil A who volunteer so I am working on a way to easily track group volunteer hours.”

As a retired registered nurse who worked for the state of Ohio, Dawn understands database systems well, so the data entry volunteer position was the perfect fit.

“I really enjoy what I’m doing, and it makes me feel useful now that I’m retired,” Dawn said. “The people at the Pregnancy and Parenting Center are so friendly. I recall when I helped with mailings, we’d all sit around the boardroom and share recipes. I encourage anyone to consider volunteering. There are many areas where you can make a difference.”
