Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 10:17
A patient came into Eva, and I recognized her right away. “Ashley” (no names please) was a former patient who had come to our clinic for two of her pregnancies. I was her advocate for her last pregnancy. Fast forward to today. She now has three children with her fourth baby on the way. She told me that while she was shocked at first, she is feeling good about the pregnancy and has a lot of support from her boyfriend and family.
I shared with her that our faith can be a wonderful source of comfort and support and asked if she was open to having a spiritual discussion. Ashley lit up right away and told me her faith has been growing ever since coming to Eva long ago. She cited the spiritual guidance, along with receiving resources including a Bible, have really helped her faith come alive!
Ashley then shared that as soon as she left her last appointment, she went home and told her boyfriend that they were going to make a change and start taking their faith seriously. They began praying together and reading the Bible daily. She said she made this change for her whole family and is now raising her kids in the Christian faith, spending a lot of time in prayer and learning about the Bible.
Her spiritual growth filled me with so much joy! I told her how happy I was for her family and prayed with her. It is so encouraging to hear that we made such a profound difference in a patient’s life, and indeed, that of her family.
