A Brief History

In January, 2022, The Pregnancy & Parenting Center, formerly Pregnancy Choices, adopted a new name to more accurately describe the services taking place at our 22nd Street location. Here, moms and dads receive support, supplies and parenting education. TPAPC is a proud member of the Pregnancy Support Network consisting of The Pregnancy & Parenting Center, Akron Pregnancy Services, Eva Women’s Clinic—Canton and Akron, and Hope and Healing.

2020 had proven to be a milestone year for the ministry as we consolidated all medical services including pregnancy tests, ultrasound and STD/STI testing & treatment into one location. This allowed for medical staff to remain in one location, offering all services each day of operation rather than traveling to multiple centers. The Canton clinic opened in January and, later in March, a second clinic opened serving the Akron area. Within months, Eva Women’s Clinic had achieved a gold rating from the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics. Our third clinic, serving the Tuscarawas County area, opened in 2023.

In July, 2019, then-Pregnancy Choices merged with Akron Pregnancy Services, our sister organization offering similar services and sharing a similar mission. The merger strengthened both entities’ ability to serve Summit and Stark counties—and beyond!

It is indeed exciting to witness how far we’ve come from the Crisis Pregnancy Support Center in 1985 to the Pregnancy Support Center, Pregnancy Choices and now The Pregnancy and Parenting Center—the place for families to receive the support and resources necessary to make life affirming decisions and build stronger families.
