Hope and Healing Center Assists Those Dealing with Loss Heal

For those grappling with loss related to abortion, miscarriage, divorce or the death or a loved one, the Hope and Healing Center, part of the Parenting & Pregnancy Support Center, offers support through group studies designed to promote a deeperhealing process in a safe, caring and nonjudgmental environment.

“We have different groups structured to help women who may be in various phases in the grief process,” said Stefanie Libertore, Director of the Hope and Healing Center. “We alsooffer a program for those who want to reconcile with their sexual past. Most of our studies require a 13-week commitment.”

Groups typically meet the third Wednesday of every month and are free of charge, although participants are required to purchase workbooks which cost between $10 – $20. Some of the topics addressed include anger, shame, co-dependency, forgiveness and re-discovering joy. Group facilitators are trained in Biblical healing studies and provide a compassionate approach.

Because men, too, are affected by the trauma of abortion, The Hope and Healing Center launched Arrows in August 2023, to guide men through the healing journey. In January 2024, Arrowsexpanded online to reach men who do not reside in the Stark County community.

“It’s important for men’s voices to be heard so it’s very important for them to share their stories,” Libertore said. “And, in many instances, they have so much influence on women’s choices to have abortions.”
