Hi! I’m Amy Kuhns, a client advocate at the Pregnancy & Parenting Center where I’ve been serving for a little over three years. What an experience it has been!
It was Jo Ressler, education coordinator at the Center, who led me here.
Jo and I were catching up over lunch where she shared all the Center offers to women and families. Our conversation ended with her inviting me to experience the goodness for myself by shadowing one of their advocates. That’s what I did, and it was a prayer answered. You see I was searching for God’s clear direction as to where he wanted me to serve and I clearly had the answer. Fast forward to today where I currently volunteer at the Center on Mondays and half-day on Thursday. I get to meet our clients where they are by listening. encouraging, and connecting them to resources that meet their needs, but best of all get to pray with them.
Basically, we share life together.
What love about serving at TPis simple -we freely get to share the gospel of Jesus Christ experiencing clients coming away with generational sins broken, lives being changed, and souls being healed. I get to send them home with the Word of God bringing healing, encouragement, hope, value into their lives. How beautiful is that?
Secondly, I love that we are not a hand-out, but a hand-up ministry. We practice a learn to earn model where clients need to invest in themselves by becoming educated about what it is to be a good, strong parent, and are then rewarded with all kinds of good and items to make their lives just a bit easier. This provides a teeling of accomplishment, value, and respect in them.
As for me, have been married to the love of my life, Leroy, for 33 years and attend Fellowship Baptist Church where we also serve. We have raised four amazing children, all of which are married and so far, they’ve given us seven beautiful grandchildren. In my free time I enjoy crafts, sewing, gardening, kayaking. walking, reading, and our newest adventure, e-bike riding. Our farthest round trip was 25 miles! As you can tell, the Lord has abundantly blessed us.
